Advanced Wound Management in Long Term Care: Focus on Pressure Ulcers
You may be asking, "What does ‘advanced’ mean in wound care?"
"Advanced" may be defined as "progressive" which is the ideal in management of your residents with chronic wounds.
This course is geared toward progressing you along in your care of wounds, primarily the pressure ulcer. We will utilize wound photos and scenarios to determine where the COMPLEX wound is and where we want it to go and how we can get there AS WELL AS THE WOUND THAT HAS STALLED IN ITS PROGRESSION TOWARD HEALING.
It is recommended you brush up on the phases of wound healing prior to this program (Phases: inflammatory, proliferative, and maturation).
If you have a specific resident you would like to discuss and photos or questions you need answered, please send to
no later than Aug. 1, 2013 and we will add this info to our program. Remember to follow HIPPA guidelines.
Additionally, our presenter would like to have a blank copy of your wound assessment form that will also be used in the presentation. If you would like to share it, please email it to
