Position Information

Assistant Director of Reimbursement


Responsible for the completion and filing of regulatory reports as required by the State and Federal governments for the Medicare and Medicaid programs in which the nursing facilities, home health agencies, and hospices operate.  Preparation of internal financial and strategic reports for use by executive management.


  1.  Analysis needed to determine allowable/nonallowable expenses to be reported on the cost reports
  2.  Calculation of impact of proposed and/or new changes to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement methodology and reporting to management
  3. Participation in providing requested documentation from Medicre and Medicaid audits.
  4. Coordination and support of audits of cost reports and other reports by various State and Federal governmental agencies in a timely manner.
  5. Preparation of monthly target/ceiling, Medicare average rate, and Medicare days by RUGs for inclusion in the monthly operations review books and the monthly Reimbursement review books.
  6. Preparation of home health agencies cost per visit calculations and Medicare rate analysis on an annual or semi-annual basis as applicable.
  7. Review of quarterly case mix information from the resident listings received from Georgia and North Carolina for submission to the appropriate state in a timely manner.
  8. Maintain a level of proficiency with the PeopleSoft general ledger system.
  9. Maintain current knowledge base of regulations and issues relating to allowable Medicare bad debts for skilled nursing facilities.
  10. Research and dissemination of required information as requested by various State and Federal auditors.
  11. Development of new/additional reporting tools, spreadsheets, and queries as necessary.
  12. Stay up to date on State and Federal regulations and requirements regarding reporting needs.
  13. Special projects as necessary.
  14. Preparation of hospice Medicare rate analysis on an annual basis.
  15. Assist in training and review of Reimbursement Analyst duties and projects.
  16. Respond to SNF consolidated billing charge and expense coding questions and issues as necessary.
  17. Support and back-up for Executive Director and Director of Reimbursement.



  • Must be proficient in the implementation of technology systems and accounting/finance procedures/processes
  • Experience with PeopleSoft highly preferred.
  • Experience using accounting software to perform journal entries and pull financial statements required. 
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft office suite required.
  • Accuracy & strong attention to detail.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Advanced Accounting technical and pronouncement research.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 years experience in filing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for skilled nursing facilities; experience filing home health and/or hospice is a plus, but not required
