The Georgia Health Care Association (GHCA) is pleased to announce that Laura Prough, Executive Director of the Community Care Division of the Visiting Nurse Health System/Hospice Atlanta, has been reelected to serve as Chair of the GHCA Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE) Board of Directors for 2021-2022. Prough was reelected to the position by the SOURCE membership and installed during a virtual member business meeting on May 27.

“Laura is an outstanding leader who has served elderly and disabled Georgians in community-based settings with distinction for many years.” said GHCA President & CEO Tony Marshall. “I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to work with Laura and the rest of the GHCA SOURCE Board to enhance the lives of those served by our State's SOURCE agencies.”

SOURCE is a home and community based 1915 Waiver Program which provides enhanced case management service to Medicaid beneficiaries with medical needs that would qualify for placement in a skilled nursing center but choose to be served within the community rather than an institutional setting. GHCA SOURCE represents the interests of 14 of Georgia's SOURCE Agencies. As Chair, Prough will be responsible for ensuring the proper governance of GHCA SOURCE and serve as the primary voice for the SOURCE membership on the GHCA Board of Directors.

Prough has served Georgia's elderly and individuals with disabilities in community-based settings for 36 years. Prior to her current role, she served as the State Director of Georgia's Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) where she was responsible for statewide program design, policy development, implementation, and on-going expansion of the ADRC initiative. Prough has presented at several state, national and international conferences on aging, disability and independence and has held various leadership roles in the non-profit arena. She has served on several boards and advisory councils including the Center for Positive Aging, Culture Change Network of Georgia, and SAGE Atlanta. She resides in Avondale Estates, GA, and is passionate about servant leadership.
